Dr. Anant Kumar is a distinguished urologist with 35 years of experience in Urology and Kidney Transplantation. He currently serves as the Chairman of Uro-Oncology, Robotic & Kidney Transplantation at Max Hospital, Saket and Max Hospital, Vaishali, New Delhi. Recognized as one of India’s leading robotic and laparoscopic surgeons, Dr. Kumar has a remarkable track record in minimally invasive urological procedures.
Previously, he held key leadership positions as Director of Urology, Renal Transplantation, and Robotics at Fortis Hospital and Apollo Hospital in Delhi NCR. He also served as Professor and Head of Urology & Kidney Transplantation at SGPGIMS, Lucknow and was a Consultant Urologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK.
Dr. Kumar is widely regarded as the best urologist and robotic surgeon in Delhi NCR, specializing in Kidney Transplantation, Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Urology, Renovascular Hypertension, Urological Oncology, Laser Urological Surgery, and Reconstructive Urology. Over the past 30 years, he has performed over 3500 kidney transplants and has been performing laparoscopic donor nephrectomies for more than 20 years, with over 2200 procedures completed.
In the last five years alone, Dr. Kumar has successfully conducted over 500 robotic surgeries, earning him the title of one of the most skilled robotic surgeons in the country. His extensive experience also covers advanced endourological procedures including PCNL, URS, flexible ureteroscopy, endopyelotomy, TURP, TUBT, and optical urethrotomy.
He has been a pioneer in laser prostate surgeries for over a decade, utilizing technologies such as Thulium, Green Light, and Holmium lasers, and currently performs HOLEP using the Lumenis machine. His expertise extends to complex reconstructive urology of the kidney, bladder, and urethra, including over 700 urethral stricture surgeries performed over the last 30 years.
Dr. Kumar has a special interest in laparoscopic urology and has performed a wide range of procedures including radical prostatectomy, cystectomy, and partial nephrectomy. For the past six years, he has been actively involved in robotic-assisted urological surgeries for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers, as well as urological reconstructions like pyeloplasty, ureteric reimplantation, and bladder augmentation.
